Work has begun in Haiti! Below is an extract from an e-
Here in Haiti we have no words to express our gratitude to you for all the sacrifice you're doing. We're really touched by all the effort you're making to raise money for the project. The works are going well and fast. The digging is finished. we've bought 4 & half tonnes of iron, 400
bags of cement. Tomorrow morning the architect will start fixing in
the big holes the iron pillars (about 70)with concrete. Each pillar contains 9 irons. Each iron is 20 feet long. That means it is a large building. This week, they have to fill all the foundations with
rocks, iron and concrete.

February 2008:
After some generous gifts over Christmas we were able to continue our two wards whilst the team were in Haiti during February. £5,000 was sent out to continue the work. Check out the pictures below to see the progress! We now only need to raise a further £20,000 before the two wards will be ready for use. We have our hearts fixed on having these wards opened by the end of the year. The devastating conditions of the existing government run hospital continue to shock us every time we visit Haiti, and we are keen to get this side of our work completed as soon as possible! We continue to rely upon the generous donations of supporters to this urgent and exciting work. If you feel able to help us please make a donation via our donation page. Thank you.
August 2007:
At the start of August the first building work started! Phase 1 was ready
to begin!
Please see our plan to get an idea of what we’re aiming towards. The first step
was to prepare and build the foundations. This work has been taking place for the
last few months now and is well underway. Please see the photographs to the right.
A group of churches in America have also got on board with the project, and hope to help build our surgery department!
We'll keep you up to date with how that develops.
September 2007:
Check out the photos below so you can see just how quickly the work is moving forward, and what your support is helping to achieve! Pastor Gedeon just sent them to us! All the news we have been receiving from Haiti regarding the building work has been positive, and as soon as we hear anything more we’ll let you know!
We have also just received 53 good quality hospital beds from America, which are now in Haiti, and ready to be used! Keep popping back and we’ll let you know what’s going on! Thanks for your support. We need it, as we’ve still got a long way to go!
October 2007:
The foundations are now almost complete for our urgently needed Children's
Ward and Maternity Ward. We are now seeking £3,500 to complete these foundations
before we can move onto the next stage of the building work which is likely to cost
around £25,000. Unfortunately at this time we don't have the financial capability
to continue with the building until more fundraising has been done. The Haiti Hospital
Appeal completely relies upon the generous help of its supporters, and now more than
ever we need your support! These two wards are urgently needed in Haiti, in a country
where 50% of births still take place at home without any form of medical support,
often in extremely bad conditions, where 40% of the population are less than 15 years
old, and where 1 in 4 children die before the age of four. Over the Christmas period
we're going to be launching our first Christmas Appeal to help raise this money,
but we need your help! Please pop back soon to find out more about this! Until then,
please continue to pray for the building work, and if you feel able, make a donation
towards this urgently needed work via our donation page. Thank you for your support!
